After months of staring at buyer’s guides and waiting for your favorite brands to upload their 2012 sites, winter season has finally arrived. Snow has fallen across the country and mountains are opening left and right. Wolf Creek, Loveland, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin have opened here in Colorado, while Sunday River, Mount Snow and Killington tied to open in the East. Mountains in California, Arizona, Minnesota and Oregon have also started up their chairlifts. There’s nothing more exciting than the first day on the slopes. People don’t care about the amount of trails or the hour long lift lines; it is all about getting on snow, making some turns and beating your friends to it.

I used to spend hours flipping through catalogs and websites trying to pick out the perfect outfit and set of hard goods for the year. I would go down to my basement, put on all my gear and hop around trying to learn new tricks. This ritual would usually begin in August and go straight into early November, when Sunday River Mountain would open. Unfortunately, this year I suffered a serious hand injury that is keeping me off snow until January. I have never had such an itch for early-season. In due time I will be making turns, but I want everyone else to take advantage of this wonderful time of year. On behalf of all of Empire Attire, head up to the mountains and have the best early season of your life. Go learn new tricks, make edits, dress awesome and goof off in the lift lines. And remember to go fast and take chances.
