Empire Attire

Some say that a picture is worth a thousand words.  Well, it is time for our friend Nate Abbott to put those words to good use.  Nate recently took on the full-time role of Senior Editor at Freeskier Magazine.  With more than a decade and a half of experience as a photographer and content provider, Nate is truly the perfect candidate for this position.  Although most well known for his photography, Nate is an excellent writer with vision and dedication to the sport. And, on a more personal note, a great guy to be around.

Nate’s verve and good nature are always in good supply. I had the opportunity to hit the town with Nate last Halloween; in fact, most of the Empire crew was there.  We all went down to San Diego for a weekend of fun. My roommate, Henrik Lampert, and I decided to dress up as Google.  He was the G, I was the GLE, and the OO was to be made up of random girls with too much cleavage standing in between us.  Nate spray-painted his hair white to look like Andy Warhol and pretended that he was working for a local magazine to get girls to agree to be in our photographs.  Needless to say, we ended up with about 100 incredible photos of Henrik and I spelling Google with gorgeous women.  Nate has now become that full-time magazine employee and doesn’t need to wait until Halloween to put girls in his magazine.

Nate has worked with just about every skier in the business.  From photo shoots to competitions, Nate is always on the industry’s frontline.  He is also responsible for some of the most inspiring images of our athletes, and has provided Empire with some great shots of our guys in action (decked out in Empire gear of course). In an earlier interview Nate remarked, “I look forward to guiding the magazine in a way that capitalizes on the deep variety of styles, personalities and interests within our sport.” With all of his credentials and experience, I have little doubt that he will make this a reality. We are all pumped to see Nate in his new position at Freeskier, and the great things he is sure to do.  Go get ‘em buddy!
