Winter of Wells Premiere
Lights dimmed in Keystone for the second premiere of the Winter of Wells Documentary. The Wells boys shuffled in the doors of 9280 Tavern fashionably early in order to meet and greet some of their fans. The night consisted of loud cheering, autograph signings, photo opportunities, and, of course, the official screening of the movie. There was also a raffle for a pair of brand new Atomic Punx signed by Jossi, Byron, Beau, and Jackson. Two raffle tickets were pulled, but there could only be one winner. The two ticket holders were forced to compete in a push-up contest in order to claim the skis as their own.
Winter of Wells was not your typical ski movie. It was a brilliantly done documentary about a family of talented skiers. When I asked Jossi what made this film different from other ski movies he joked, “For one, it is only 30% skiing.” He then explained, “Winter of Wells is suppose to be a film for everyone. You do not have to understand skiing to understand the movie. It is suppose to appeal to the skier as well your average Mum.” However, do not let Jossi’s jokes fool you. There was plenty of top level skiing, and incredible filming by Tim Pierce. The film displays the emotions involved with the sport and the commitment and sacrifices that one family must make for their children to follow their dreams.
It was a perfect location for the premiere since Jossi is a proud Keystone athlete and considers the mountain to be his home away from home. Jossi reflects “This is pretty rad, just got back to Colorado a week ago and I’ve been up here riding at Keystone the past few days, its super epic early season right now. It’s cool to be able to show our movie about our home in New Zealand with our home here in America, so it’s definitely a cool night.” The full-length movie is coming soon to iTunes and I would recommend that everyone check it out.
